I’m at a Fourth of July fair with my mom and my brother. The pirate ship ride isn’t like normal ones. This one went close to 70 feet in the air. My brother was too much like a wimp to go on the ride with me so I went by myself. He went to go in line for the bumper cars. Mom went with me to encourage me but not go actually “on the ride” so she is just in the crowd giving me the thumbs up sign.
I gave the man my ticket. “Go on,” he mumbled. I didn’t even think about going at the very end. I climbed in the lowest seat. A boy about my age sat next to me. I had butterflies in my stomach. I glanced at Mom in the crowd. She had a grin that spread across her face. I gave her a half smile. The guy in the blue jumpsuit tightened my seatbelt. There was no turning back now. The motor went to a start. The ride slowly creaked forward. I squeezed the handle some-what ready for the ride to go faster.
The ride went back down then up again. Suddenly, the ride zoomed up. My stomach jerked to the side. I felt like throwing up. Every time the ride went back down, my stomach jerked in a different direction.
After about 15 minutes the ride slammed to a stop. I was totally surprised that I didn’t throw up yet. I felt terrible. I waited patiently for the blue jumpsuit guy to come back. He didn’t. I heard the motor run again.
